Legendary singer Asha Bhosle passed away at the age of 92 in Mumbai. As celebs pour in their tribute, Shah Rukh Khan also took to social media to express grief on her demise. He shared a heartwarming picture where he can be seen giving her a peck on the cheek. SRK wrote, “It’s truly sad to learn about Asha Tai’s passing… her voice has been one of the pillars of Indian cinema and will continue to resonate world over for centuries to come. A talent that will outlive many, she always showered me with blessings and love and i will miss her. Rest in Peace Asha Tai… love you.” Meanwhile, PM Narendra Modi who had also expressed concern when she was hospitalised and wished her a speedy recovery is now deeply saddened by her death. He shared pictures with her and wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Deeply saddened by the passing of Asha Bhosle Ji, one of the most iconic and versatile voices India has ever known. Her extraordinary musical journey, spanning decades, enriched our cultural heritage and touched countless hearts across the world. Be it her soulful melodies or vibrant compositions, her voice carried timeless brilliance. I’ll always cherish the interactions I’ve had with her.”
Asha Bhosle was very fit even in the 90s and was seen performing a live concert for three hours to celebrate her 90th birthday. However, on April 11, Saturday, she suffered a chest infection and was rushed to the Breach Candy hospital. On Sunday morning, her son addressed the media and revealed that she has passed away. Her last rites will take place on Monday at Shivaji Park.
