Sally Field on what kind of roles she does not like to do

Over the years, the veteran actress has played quite a lot of roles that have stayed with fans over the years. From romantic comedy to action and thriller movies, she’s done it all, but there are a few themes that she will never touch. While talking to PEOPLE about her latest film, ‘Remarkably Bright Creatures’, the star also opened up about some of the specific roles she has always avoided like the plague.“I never take to stories about women that are trying to find a man,” she commented during the interview, adding that “I didn’t like it then, and it doesn’t appeal to me now, because I think women are about so much more.”Further on during the interview, she also cited that growing up, she had a lot of emotions and often times she let them consume her. Through acting, she was able to channel her emotions into the character and make them her own. Providing more details about this method, the actress cited that she had an extremely complicated relationship with her parents when she was growing up in the 50s. “I was filled with rage. Really filled with rage, and it was working with [acting coach] Lee Strasberg that allowed me to begin to tap into it, to not let it devour me.”She concluded by adding that she used this method in one of her most famed roles, ‘Norma Rae’, and was encouraged by her director, Marty Ritt.
