Kate Hudson and Brenda Song’s ‘Running Point’ returned for the second season only a few days ago, and fans cannot seem to get enough of it already. The second season has already had rave reviews on social media; however, fans have been left wondering about the person to whom the new season was dedicated. Here is why the creators of ‘Running Point’ dedicated the second season to 15 year old Niko Mijailovic.
Why was ‘Running Point’ season 2 dedicated to Niko Mijailovic
The third episode of ‘Running Point’ season 2 was dedicated to Niko Mijailovic, and even had a tribute card played by the end of the episode. It read, “In Loving Memory of #6 Niko Mijailovic.”He was mentioned in the series because last year, after his passing, it was revealed by his family that the last show that he had watched had been ‘Running Point’ season 1. Niko Mijailovic was a 15 year old varsity volleyball player who attended a private school in Los Angeles. In April last year, he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest and passed away. His older sister, Mila, took to her social media after his passing to talk about him and mentioned that “He was there for every single part of my volleyball career, always supporting me. As an athlete, he had a lot of drive and a lot of big goals. He also wanted to play Division I volleyball one day, and I always looked forward to seeing him achieve that. He also just has always been a really bright and happy person. He always made people feel comfortable and included. He was my number one supporter.”‘Running Point’ was not the only show to show their support for Niko. Cast of the hit medical drama ‘The Pitt’ also posted photos posing with a heart cutout that had the 15 year old’s photo as well as his name written on it.
Plot of ‘Running Point’
Starring Kate Hudson in the lead role, ‘Running Point’ is an ongoing sports comedy series that explores a dysfunctional family. Hudson stars as Isla Gordon, a reformed party girl who has never been given a chance to prove herself in her family business. When her brother becomes the centre of a controversy, he steps down as president, and rather than handing over the responsibility to any of her other family members, he reaches out to Isla, who finally has a chance to redeem herself. Both of the seasons of ‘Running Point’ are officially up for streaming on Netflix.
