Daveigh Chase’s mother, Cathy, claimed that she initially thought the headlines were fake. However, when she saw the news of her daughter’s demise on legitimate sites, she realised the grave truth. “I actually thought it was fake news, that first time I saw it, and then, but then all of a sudden, it’s all of these different legitimate sites had her name and I realised that it wasn’t fake,” she said in an interview with the Daily Mail, adding that she last saw her daughter in 2019.

Moreover, Cathy scrolled through social media and the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s website to look for updates and traces of her daughter. “I was devastated,” she said, before adding, “It felt like something inside of me was squeezing all of the air out of me, and at the same time, it felt like I was exploding outwardly.”As the agonising realisation hit her, Cathy ran outside into the backyard. “I let out this guttural scream, and I just was running. And these weird sounds were coming out of me, these kinds of, like, primaeval sounds,” she said. “And I went out into the backyard, and I was screaming, ‘No, no, no, no!’ I am in so much pain, but I hope her soul heard me,” the mother of the late actress revealed.

During the interview, Cathy shared that Daveigh suffered from addiction to painkillers following a serious motorcycle accident in 2016, leading to the beginning of the downward spiral. “I honestly thought there was something wrong with her. My daughter was never diagnosed with mental health other than PTSD. But the drugs took hold of her,” she said, adding that her daughter was seeking drugs and partying with the wrong people. By the time in 2019, Daveigh was ‘completely gone’ when she visited her in jail after being charged with two counts of burglary. Meanwhile, Daveigh’s boyfriend revealed on the GoFundMe that the actress had serious blood conditions, which eventually became critical.Cathy shared that her daughter struggles with homelessness. “As a mother, you don’t give up on your child.
